Our Causes and Projects

Lions is a community service organisation!

People join Lions because they want to user their intellect, creativity, commitment and enthusiasm to get things done.

This is where you can find out about the sorts of projects that your local Lions Club is doing. Like what you see?

Making a real difference to our local community

There are many ways that local residents can support our work: through the donation of household items; through supporting our recycling and upcycling efforts at the Lions Bargain Centre, Eden Hills, possibly Adelaide’s largest Op Shop.

Your donations will be fully invested in community, with over $4m invested in community projects since its foundation.

Food

Our Lions Bargain Centre support community groups through our BBQ centre. All proceeds are retained by each community group that staff the BBQ. Lions also generously participate in community BBQ’s to support local charities and community projects, like the Blackwood Christmas Pageant.

Education Opportunities

Building opportunities for hope and safety are paramount to our Blackwood Lions team. In addition to our annual bursaries to local primary and high schools, we are always keen to support new projects which will enhance our community.

Environment
Green Lions

We collect and recycle electrical, computer equipment and building materials, with massive bargains available. Fully functioning garden equipment is sold , with malfunctioning equipment donated to Urrbrae technical teachers, who use these as training materials for their students.

Children and Familes

Lions Blackwood support the welfare of children and families through annual bursaries and donations to local primary and high schools. Household goods are made available at bargain costs, with surplus electrical goods being recycled to protect the environment.

Emergency Medical Information Book

I hope you never have the need to call upon the services of your local Ambulance Service, but if you do, I hope you have your Emergency Medical Information Book filled out and stuck on the front of your refrigerator to assist them in giving you immediate assistance without having to wait until they get you to your local hospital.

Bargain Centre

Your donation of surplus or unwanted household items, will be competitively priced for access to the community. These goods will be sold and collected from our Eden Hills Op Shop, with 100% of sale proceeds invested in community opportunities.
